Casa Funchal is located approximately 4 km from the historic town of Lagos which was
capital of the Algarve from 1578 until 1756 leaving a legacy of stunning Churches and
winding streets, not to mention the original city walls and harbour. A more recent
additions is the town's stunning modern marina where the rich and famous keep their
yachts for those summer adventures and local fishermen cast off to catch sardines and
other local fish which can be sampled in Lagos' many fantastic restaurants. Lagos is also
home to many shops and boutiques which you'll take at least a day to get through.
The Western Algarve is famous for it's clean air, traditional food and wine, and
historic beauty spots but of course, it's most popular attractions are it's huge range
of sandy beaches. Whether it's basking on  miles of sand on the south coast, or
exploring the rugged West Coast's secret coves either by boat trip or by car and
making the most of the Atlantic's rolling surf, we're sure you will find these beaches
the most beautiful in the Algarve.
The old fish market has been restored in traditional fashion but now includes
all modern hygiene standards and provides high quality fresh fish ,fruit &veg
,and meat along with the home made piri piri .sweets &Almond cakes
Lagos has a myriad of cafés and
restaurants spilling onto the
street giving you a fantastic
choice of cuisine . Most people
like to wander the streets  after
dinner and browse at the local
street craft stalls or to watch the
street theatre and jugglers or sit
and have a cool cocktail and be
entertained by busker's
There are many beaches and
coves in and around Lagos where
the waters are gentle and calmer
than the west coast
and you will always find a beach
restaurant to cater for those
hungry moments after a swim ,and
with good access to the beach and
plenty of parking there is never to
far to walk.

There are many schools if
you want to learn and all
equipment is easy to hire for
the day
Even in the hight of summer there is always the vast and wild west coast to
get away from it all ideal for those who like walking on the beach, learn to
body board or take up serious surfing.
With no 2 beaches the
same with the  different
rock formations and
multicolours it is never
a boring day at the
beach exploring the
rock pools and
collecting mussels.
The House has spectacular views towards the Monchique
Mountains which can make a great day trip for children and adults.
As well as being home to innumerable quaint little towns and
marble quarries, there is a wooded zoo which is a favorite with
children. Guests love to travel to the highest point in the Algarve to
take in the breathtaking views stretching right to the ocean. If
exploring is your thing, jeeps can be hired at an affordable price
and you can even get someone else to do the driving for you. In
mid summer, the high altitudes bring a cooler temperature ideal for
walking, cycling and birdwatching. There are also many
inexpensive restaurants just waiting to be found
We couldn't possibly describe all of the fantastic things to do locally, we haven't
yet told you about the ancient Moorish town of Silves, the attractive range of local
golf courses or the exciting water parks that can be visited, nor have we gone into
depth about the picturesque boat trips which you could take, but there isn't time
